Brief Description and Relevance of the Course

It is expected that students will develop the essential ability of managers to use complex accounting information as a platform for decision-making using various techniques and tools. As the course unfolds, students will build an increasingly sophisticated level of understanding of the language of accounting and its key concepts. In addition, the course develops skills in interpreting Income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. Strong foundations in financial analysis and development of crucial basic accounting skills will also enable students to develop a management accounting focus. From this, students will take away highly relevant skills in areas such as budgeting. Such skills, ability and knowledge will enable students to identify profitable opportunities more effectively and to contribute significantly to better management within their own organizations.
